Department of Pharmaceutics
The Department of Pharmaceutics is at the core of the Pharmacy education programme, covering several aspects of new formulation development. The subject of Pharmaceutics plays a vital role in grooming a student into a true Pharma Professional. The collaborative research environment within the department and with other departments of the institute will expose students to a wide range of modern state of art research not only in the pharmaceutical sciences but also interdisciplinary research, invaluable for a successful career in the chosen field. The department is involved in taking lectures in the subjects of Pharmaceutics, Modern Dispensing Practices, Dosage Form Design, Physical pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Sterile Products, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Advanced Drug Delivery System, Cosmetic Science for the undergraduate students. (Four years B. Pharm course) and Drug Delivery System, Modern Pharmaceutics, Molecular Pharmaceutics, Advanced Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Cosmetics and Cosmeceuticals for the post graduate students. (Two-year M. Pharm Course)
The Department of Pharmaceutics was established in the year 1993. Currently, there are 6 teaching staffs in the department. Three faculty members are pursuing Ph. D. The department offers the master’s program in Pharmaceutics since 2007. College has research center in Pharmaceutics since 2009. College has Industrial Pharmacy Lab which includes sophisticated machineries. All teaching staff of department is recognized PG guide.
The department's research areas concentrate on the development of novel dosage forms for the treatment of inflammation, seizures, microbial infections and hypertension. The students are actively engaged in research activities under faculty guidance in varied research projects like-
- Formulation and characterization of novel dosage forms.
- Effect of formulation variables and process variables on developing formulation
- Development of optimized formulation through application of various factorial designs using various softwares.
The department is successful in getting financial support from various funding agencies like AICTE, UGC and SPPU. Faculty members are actively engaged in research and they publish their work in reputed national and international journals. The research work is also presented at reputed national/international conferences.
The department is equipped with sophisticated instruments like Differential Scanning Calorimeter, Spray drier, Tablet compression machine, Diffusion cell apparatus, Ultrasonic processor, Rotary shaker, Stability chamber, Disintegration apparatus, etc. all of those have been procured with the financial support from funding agencies.
